About me
I'm Sara. I have supported children, young people and their families with their mental health challenges since 2012, using a combination of Sandtray therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behaviour therapy, mindfulness, somatic experiencing, brainspotting, bio/neurofeedback and nature walk and talk therapy. With a fascination in neuroscience, I seek to understand how and why these therapies support healing. I use an individualised approach which enables me to support, heal and empower the whole individual, often without the need to talk about their sometimes very painful and confusing experiences.
I am passionate about mental health education and believe in empowering people to be active participants in their healing journey. I also enjoy educating schools and organisations on all aspects of mental health and mindfulness. This site contains a range of resources and mental health education to aid understanding and tolerance of mental health difficulties. While this is not a substitute for professional support, it can help you understand your own or your child's mental health and what support is needed.
My office is currently located in Suite 16A, Central Chambers, 157 Crown Street, Wollongong. I also offer walk-and-talk therapy with my two therapy dogs for those who benefit from being outdoors, such as at the beach or in the bush. Consultation is by appointment only. If you would like to organise an appointment, please complete the expression of interest form.
For parents and other adults, my friend and colleague, Rainbow, at Soul Counselling with Rainbow, offers trauma, drug and alcohol therapy, group therapy and Walk and Talk therapy.
